about this intervention

Supporting Widows & Orphans

This is a group for widows and orphans with whom we have been involved for more than 20 years. It is based at St Andrew’s Church, Misindye, Seeta, where they meet monthly. With the help of Global Care, we have built and run a hostel in Mukono, the income from which pays the school fees for the HOPAM children.

HOPAM is a very supportive group of vulnerable women (widows, elderly, single mothers and some with health issues).
Funds and parcels are regularly sent out for distribution amongst the members.

Main activities include:

  • • Training, facilitating and monitoring income generating activities (IGAs) and skills
development for a group of vulnerable women to enable them to earn and sustain their
    livelihood in their communities.
  • • Conducting monthly fellowships meeting at St. Andrew’s Church, Misindye.
    (Church of Uganda)
  • • Conducting home visits to monitor and support the various HOPAM members and
    their families.
  • • Ensuring access to medical help as/when the need arises.
